Emphasis areas

Complete one of the following emphasis areas:

• Science reasoning: BMS 110, BMS 111, BMS 230; BMS 307 or KIN 250; BMS 308 or KIN 252; DTN 240, LLT 102.
• Administrative services: ACC 201, ECO 155, ECO 165; HCM 301 or HCM 303; HCM 504; ITC 200, MKT 350 or LAW 531.
• Human services: COM 521, HLH 582, IPE 540; PSY 304 or SOC 341; SOC 152, SWK 219; SWK 543 or SOC 430 or ENG 570.

Tips for success

• Schedule an appointment with your advisor to create a customized plan.
• Pay close attention to course periodicity and sequencing. Some courses are only offered in either the fall or spring semesters.
• IPE 375 serves as the introduction to the Health Services major, and we recommend taking this class first. We also encourage students to take IPE 381 before IPE 475 and to save IPE 575 and IPE 576 for their senior year.
• Students pursuing the Health Services option must select one of the three emphasis areas. These courses vary by selection and have been noted above as “emphasis area”. Some of these courses may also “double count” as general education requirements.
