Foundations of Interprofessional Education in Health Care

Interprofessional education (IPE) at the collegiate level can lead to interprofessional collaborative practice in the professional health care industry. This certificate will introduce students to interprofessional education and the role of the interprofessional team to promote patient and population health outcomes. Students will gain knowledge of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative, a national collaborative of health profession associations, and the four core competencies of collaborative practice which include: Values and Ethics, Roles and Responsibilities, Interprofessional Communication, and Teams and Teamwork. Students completing this certificate program will have an enhanced understanding of the importance of a functioning collaborative team.

Program requirements (12 hours)

  1. IPE 375(3), 470(3); 575(3) or 576(3); 599(3).
  2. All candidates must satisfy the General University Certificate Requirements.
